Consultation and Mentoring Services
We provide two types of one-on-one teaching mentoring for faculty.
We provide semester-long mentoring for schools in the metropolitan Atlanta, Georgia area. This involves about 10-12 contact hours with a mentee throughout the term.
Possible mentoring services include:
- Revise or restructure courses
- Organize the course and individual presentations
- Help improve presentation clarity
- First day of class issues and syllabi redesign
- Improve case teaching
- Design better exams
- Incorporate active learning through cooperative groups
- Design strategies to improve student motivation
- Reduce classroom problems
Over the past eight years, we have mentored 38 faculty members at Georgia State University and Emory University using the semester-long model.
We also provide short-term mentoring for schools outside of the metropolitan Atlanta area. This involves meeting one to several hours with a faculty member at their institution and focuses on one of the above mentoring service areas. In recent years we have mentored faculty at UNC - Chapel Hill, Winthrop University, Wake Forest University, University of Alabama - Birmingham (business, arts and sciences, medicine, engineering etc.), Northern Ohio University, Loyola University Baltimore, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and Middle Tennessee State University.
